Training smart does not mean your training is easy! For some reason training smart has been associated with not training hard, finding reasons to do less and doesn’t involve “grinding”. However, this is totally mistaken… training smart is about well… being smarter. So how can we be smarter about our training? It has a lot to do with having a better understanding about the information that dictates our training program. Training smart is about getting the information that makes your training more effective. This is what people in the data world call “actionable insights”. For example, if you know your HRV (heart-rate variability), your bar speed, your RPE (rating of perceived exertion) and portion of the cycle you are in, the better decisions you can make. This doesn’t mean taking it easy, at times it might mean actually pushing harder than before!
